Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS)
|
The AKS is the essential curriculum for grades K-12 in Gwinnett schools. It spells out precisely what students are expected to learn and be able to do in each grade/subject. Developed by Gwinnett educators with input from more than 5,000 parents and citizens, it was initially adopted in 1996 and is reviewed annually. The AKS for each grade level and content area are available on the web. Families of elementary and middle school students receive a grade-level AKS Brochure at the beginning of the year. AKS brochures also are available online.
K-8 Parent AKS Brochures
The Parent AKS brochures are available at all elementary and middle schools in GCPS. The condensed format provides an overview of each AKS curriculum area for your student's grade level, as well as information about special programs, promotion requirements, and grade-level assessments.
