2010 Summer Online Learning Opportunities for Middle School Students
Gwinnett County Online Campus is offering a limited number of summer school classes for middle school students during the summer of 2010. Students complete the work from home for these online-only courses with the exception of two face-to-face meetings.

2010 Summer School Information

Students who are currently required to attend summer school based on their first semester (Aug - Dec) performance or are at risk for attending summer school based on their current academic performance will receive a summer school application and information by mail the week of April 12th.

Students who are required to attend summer school based on their second semester (Jan-May) performance and/or CRCT test results will receive final notice in their May report card that is mailed home.

If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's academic standing, please contact his/her grade level counselor.

On-Site Registration (required): Tuesday, June 1 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Students must be registered during this on-site registration in order to attend summer school. Parents and students will receive their summer school class schedule at registration. Classes are scheduled based on class/teacher availability and student needs.

Summer School Dates: Monday, June 21 - Thursday, July 15, 2010; Holiday: July 5th - No School
**Note: Summer school will be a 4 day school week. No school on Fridays.

Morning Session Only: 7:30 a.m.- 10:40 a.m
Afternoon Session Only: 11:25 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
All Day: 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

JUMPSTART
A summer camp for rising 6th graders to be held at Hull Middle School

During the week of July 12th - July 15th, come and join us for your choice of workshops. Jumpstart will run from 8:30 - 12:30 everyday and the cost is $90.00 Registration deadline is May 28th.

Peachtree Ridge High School Youth Basketball Camp

Coach Keith Arrington & Assistant Coaches Kevin Harrington, Matt Stratemeyer & Jaustin Freeman will be hosting a Basketball Camp for boys in grades 1-8 on June 7-10 at PRHS. Boys will meet from 8:30-12:30 at the PRHS main gym & aux gym for skills training (shooting form, ball handling, offensive moves, man to man defense, rebounding & passing) and competition (1 on 1 tournament, 3 on 3 tournament, 5 on 5 full court games, shooting contests.

Georgia Gwinnett College Tech Camp
This cam is a technology-based camp for middle and high school students. Limited financial assistance is available. Middle school students will program robots using LEGO Mindstorms, create games using Scratch, and build videos using iMovie. · High school students will program in Alice and Java. The approach to teaching Java is based upon creating video games and is taught by Dr. Jam Jenkins, co-author of the book Introductory Programming with Simple Games: Using Java and the Freely Available Networked Game Engine (www.fangengine.org/). The camp is appropriate for students with or without experience in these languages.
